Mathilda A. (Tillie) Zumbahlen, 90, of Effingham, Illinois, formerly of Sigel, passed away at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Heartland Christian Village of Neoga, Illinois.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 4 in the St. Michael of the Archangel Church in Sigel, IL, with the Rev. Fr. Sunder Ery and the Rev. Fr. Allen Kemme officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour before the services at the Church. Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery of Sigel, Illinois. The Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the St. Michael the Archangel Church of Sigel, Sacred Heart Church of Effingham, or to the Donor's Choice.

Mathilda was born May 20, 1925 in Sigel, Illinois, the daughter of Andrew and Esther (Alwerdt) Krampe. She married Anthony F. Zumbahlen June 30, 1945 in Trowbridge, Illinois, and Mr. Zumbahlen passed away May  8, 1997. Mrs. Zumbahlen was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Effingham; and past member of St. Michael the Archangel Church and the Women's Council, both of Sigel, IL. She was also a fifty-eight year member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Effingham, IL. She retired as a seamstress from the Kern Manufacturing Company of Neoga after thirty-three years. She was also employed by St. Anthony Memorial Hospital and Bales Unlimited during her lifetime.

Mrs. Zumbahlen leaves one son-in-law, Mike (Joan) Buehnerkemper; one daughter-in-law, Tricia (Tony) Schlanse;  one brother, Kenneth (Loretta) Krampe; five grandchildren, Chad (Jodi) Buehnerkemper,  Cheri (Aaron) Markwell, Rick (Sarah) Zumbahlen, Stacey (Brandon) Brod, and Rob Zumbahlen; seven great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Anthony Zumbahlen; and three children, Larry Zumbahlen (infant), Gerry Buehnerkemper, and Mel Zumbahlen; and one brother, Leroy Krampe.
