Helen M. Lustig, 86 of Roseville, IL, formerly of Effingham, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, February 18, 2016 at Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, IL.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 22 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to Monmouth Nursing Home or Sacred Heart Church.

Helen was born July 5, 1929 in Effingham County, the daughter of Ralph and Marguerite (Robertson) Mitchell. She married Arthur Lustig on November 25, 1948, and he preceded her in death in 1985. Helen was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Monmouth. She was former owner/operator of Helen Lustig’s Beauty Shop in Effingham and a Sacred Heart Church parishioner.

Helen is survived by her two daughters Cheryl Lustig of Grand Prairie, TX and Donna (Wood) Stortzum of Roseville;  two brothers Calvin Mitchell of Effingham and Clayton (Diana) Mitchell of Dyersburg,TN; three sisters Freda (Bob) Wallace of Sugar Grove, IL, Verneva Anderson of St. Petersburg, FL, and Marthagene (Dr. Gene) Woody of Texarkana,TX; four grandchildren Troy Tipsword of Peoria, Jennifer (Eugene) Kropff of Mansfield, TX, Dr. Christopher (Lori) Stortzum Macomb, and Jamia (Darren) McDonald of Saunderstown, RI, and six great grandchildren, Riley Kropff, Claire Tipsword, Morgan Tipsword, Allison Stortzum, Kathryn Stortzum, and Patrick McDonald.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Shirley Snyder, Beulah Ginder, and Marilyn Rusch.
