Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Coan, 85, of Wendelin died at 10:11am Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM Monday, February 15 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin with Fr. Mark Stec celebrating mass. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Wendelin. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00pm Sunday at the church and from 9 to 10am Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Catholic Youth Ministry. Arrangements are incomplete at Meyer Funeral Home in Newton.

Elizabeth Ann, better known as “Betty” was born on October 28, 1930, in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of Edwin and Helen (Kuenstler) Kessler. She married Thomas B. Coan on June 17, 1948, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, Illinois and he preceded her in death on June 10, 1994. Betty was a homemaker and loving mother. She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, Illinois. She was enjoyed quilting, gardening, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Betty is survived by: Children – Cindy (Darrell) Huchel of Olney, Illinois; Glenn (Linda) Coan of Olney, Illinois; Charlie (Mary Beth) Coan of Wendelin, Illinois; Joseph (Kate) Coan of Charlestown, Indiana; Daniel (Pamela) Coan of Worden, Illinois...Brothers – Carl (Judy) Kessler of Dundas, Illinois; Leonard (Norma) Kessler of Ingraham, Illinois; Benard Kessler of Quincy, Illinois and Hugh (Frances) Kessler of Clay City, Illinois...12 Grandchildren...and 17 Great Grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Thomas B. Coan, Jr; brother Paul “Zeke” Kessler; sisters Freida Kessler, Erma Rauch, Gertrude Rauch and Carolyn Frohning.
