Jennie Courson, 73, of Dieterich died at 12:35pm Thursday, January 14, 2016 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, January 16 at Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich with Nate Hagen officiating. Burial will be in the Dieterich Village Cemetery in Dieterich. Visitation will be held from 10am to noon Saturday. Memorials to the donor's choice.

Jennie was born on April 19, 1942 in Stewardson, Illinois the daughter of Ferd and Oma (Kessler) McCormick. She married Paul Courson on June 20, 1969 and he survives. Jennie worked for many years as a beautician and school bus driver. She also worked at Fedders in Effingham for a number of years. Jennie was a member of the Latona Church of Christ in Latona, Illinois and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Dieterich American Legion Post #628. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards and going to family functions. She loved to care for her pets over the years including her dogs, cats and horses.

Jennie is survived by:  Husband of 46 years – Paul Courson of Dieterich, Illinois  Children – Tim (Kim) Courson of Dieterich, Illinois; Penny (Mike) McCollum of Effingham, Illinois; Chris Orsborn (Larry Frost) of Dieterich, Illinois; Bill (Peg) Radloff of Dieterich, Illinois; Gynell (Fred) Stevens of Effingham, Illinois and Jennie Jo (Larry) Thompson of Lerna, Illinois; Step Children – Terry (Marsha) Courson of Dieterich, Illinois; Vernon Courson of Alts, Oklahoma; Ronnie Courson of Louisville, Illinois and Brenda Durham of Sparta, Illinois; Brother – Ferd (Arlene) McCormick of Stewardson, Illinois; 10 Grandchildren; 10 Step Grandchildren; 10 Great Grandchildren and 8 Step Great Grandchildren.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents and a son Tom Paul Courson in 1971.
