Jerry Dean “Catfish Jerry” Hickey, age 66, of Toledo, Illinois passed away at 8:16 AM - Sunday, January 10, 2016 at his home.

Funeral services celebrating Jerry’s life will be held at 11:00 AM – Wednesday, January 13 at the Mullen Baptist Church 675 County Road 150 N Montrose Illinois 62445. Burial will be in the Mullen Cemetery in rural Montrose, Illinois. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service in the church. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home (formerly Bishop Funeral Home) in Greenup, Illinois.

Jerry was born on August 2, 1949 in Mattoon, Illinois the son of Chester and Opal (Lawhorn) Hickey. He married Loretta Utke on January 26, 1968 in Joliet, Illinois and she survives. Jerry worked construction for 12 years with the Laborer’s Local Union #149. He was a member of the Mullen Baptist Church. He loved fishing for catfish, mushroom hunting and was king of the grill. He loved his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchild.

Jerry is survived by: Wife of 47 years – Loretta Hickey of Toledo, Illinois; Son – Kelly (Shelly) Hickey of Pawnee, Illinois; Daughters – Amy (Tim) Burke of Toledo, Illinois, Jeri Hernandez of Toledo, Illinois, and Lisa (Tom) Welker of Momence, Illinois; Brothers – Darrell Hickey of Jewett, Illinois, Dale Hickey of Wilmington, Illinois, Lowell Hickey of Oklahoma; Sisters – Wanda (Stew) Storm of Florida and Diane Hickey of Braidwood, Illinois; 9 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Twyla Hickey.
