Harold H. Evans, 85, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 11:11 a.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016 in Shelbyville Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 6 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson, IL with Military Honors by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Knobs Baptist Church, Tower Hill, IL or Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

 Harold was born April 8, 1930 in Chicago, IL, the son of John Otto and Lillian Marie Williams Evans. He graduated from Effingham High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a medic on a ship in Japan during the Korean War. After his service, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Greenville College and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Illinois. Harold was a junior high and high school teacher in Pana and Findlay, IL. He later worked for Firestone in Decatur, IL, International Paper in Shelbyville, IL and retired from Shelby County Community Services in Shelbyville, IL. Harold was also a circuit pastor in the Free Methodist Church and later served as pastor of the Fancher Free Methodist Church. He attended Knobs Baptist Church, Tower Hill, IL. Harold was a die-hard Cubs fan and enjoyed talking about politics, sports and religion. He married Lois Aieleen West on June 15, 1958. She preceded him in death on July 22, 1983.

He is survived by his son Barry Gene Evans of Shelbyville, IL and his daughter Becky Ann Evans of Shelbyville, IL.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois Evans; and sisters, Helen Evans in infancy and Ines Pagel.
