Zelma M. (Day) Appelt, 94, of Shumway died at 7:27 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Shumway with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service, Wednesday morning at the church. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of Shumway or to the donor’s choice. www.bauerfh.com

Zelma was born February 22, 1918 in Effingham, the daughter of Ernest and Emma (Jacobs) Willison. She married Kenneth C. Appelt on April 19, 1964 and he preceded her in death on January 14, 1993. Zelma was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Shumway. She worked as a waitress in Effingham and when she was younger, Zelma worked at a factory in Chicago. Her hobby was always cleaning the house.

Zelma is survived by her children, Duane (Sue) Day of Iola and Pamela (Allen) Campton of Shumway. Three grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.

Zelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Appelt; sister, Lawanda Willison and brother, Gerald Willison.
