Geneva M. Monical, 91, of Effingham, IL, passed away at 9:12 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2012, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, with the Rev. Dr. Joe Scheets officiating. Burial will be in Bible Grove Cemetery, Bible Grove, IL. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Effingham County Cultural Center and Museum. Geneva was born on October 12, 1920, in Dieterich, IL, the daughter of Noah and Rettie (Jackson) Poynter. She married Walter Everett Monical on March 27, 1941, in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1970. Geneva was employed at Flora Nursing Home and she was a homemaker. She loved quilting and taking care of her flower garden.
Geneva is survived by her daughter, Pat (Jerry Lee) Katz of Effingham; son, Leon (Carol) Monical of Delong; grandchildren, Jerry Lyn (Cyndi) Katz of Effingham, Gena (Scott) Ruhl of Mt. Pulaski, Joetta (Tim) Seaton of Durham, NC, and Tony (Kim) Monical of Hampstead, NC; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers, and 4 sisters
