Vida Bateman, 95, of Flora, Illinois passed way Tuesday, September 11 at 10:03 a.m. at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 19 at the Louisville Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 18 at Neal Funeral Home, Louisville and from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Orchard Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Howard S. Bell will officiate at the services. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the Louisville United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Neal Funeral Home. Mrs. Bateman was born December 23, 1916, in Clay County, the daughter of Clayton and Lizzie (Wilson) Kincaid. She married Burlin Bateman March 29, 1935 and he preceded her in death September 28, 1992. She was saved November 6, 1950 at the Louisville Methodist Church and was baptized January 7, 1951. She became a member of the church at that time.
Mrs. Bateman is survived by son, Darrell Bateman of Louisville; daughters, Marilyn Bateman of Flora and Carolyn (husband James) Banks of Mesa, Ariz.; brother, Lowell F. Kincaid, Largo, Fla.; sisters, Ruby Cornet-Kelly of Kissimmee, Fla. and Jean Weber, Clayton, Ind.; grandsons, Tim (wife Teresa) Bateman and Wes Bateman of Flora and Dr. Sean Banks of Plantation, Fla.; great-granddaughters, Staci (husband Ryan) Groves of Elgin, Okla. and Nicole (husband Ted) Gardewine of Effingham and great-great-grandchildren, Olivia Gardewine and Timothy Sylys Groves.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Lois; brothers, Herschel, Robert and Theron and sister, Violet.
