Melvin L. “Dick” Crain, 75 of Edgewood formerly Farina, died at 6:25 AM Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Flora Gardens Care Center, Flora.
A visitation will be from 5-8 PM Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood. Private family burial will take place at a later date at Keens Chapel Cemetery, rural LaClede. Memorials are requested to Edgewood Masonic Lodge, Farina Fire Department, or Alzheimer’s Assn.
Dick was born on May 12, 1937 in Marion Co., IL the son of Loren C. and Hilda M. (Schneider) Crain. He married Mary Cornwell on July 26, 1958 and she preceded him on October 26, 2001. He then married Linda Beccue on April 24, 2004. He was retired head pressman from the former World Color Press in Effingham and Salem, past member of the Edgewood Masonic Lodge, and Ainad Shriners.
Surviving are his daughters, Cathy Crain of Mason, Carla Sowers of Edgewood, and Christina (husband, Kelly) Welch of Farina; son in law, Bruce Sowers of Patoka; companion, Linda Beccue of Edgewood; brother, Merle (wife, Sandy) Crain of LaClede; sister, Millie Wesselman of Effingham; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Mary, he was preceded by his parents, daughter, Cheryl Sowers; and grandson, Levi Sowers.
