Bertha Gillespie Pruemer (87) of Teutopolis

Bertha Gillespie Pruemer, 87, passed away at 9:10 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2012 at her home in Teutopolis.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday evening at the church with a 6:30 p.m. parish wake service. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Bertha was born August 19, 1925 in St. Francis Township, the daughter of John and Mary (Wegman) Nosbisch.  She married Eugene L. Gillespie on December 1, 1956 and he preceded her in death in 1982. Bertha then married Roger Pruemer on November 7, 1986 and he preceded her in death in 1998.

She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, St. Francis Council of Catholic Women and worked for Golden Circle Nutrition Program as a site supervisor for 20 years. Bertha enjoyed activities and visiting with friends and neighbors, but especially time spent with children, grandchildren and the great grandchild. Some of her favorite pastimes were dancing, listening to music, playing pinochle and watching Cardinal baseball. She enjoyed sewing in her earlier years.

Bertha is survived by her three sons, Allan (Susan) Gillespie, Steven (Sandra) Gillespie and Dennis (Sharon) Gillespie, all of Teutopolis; nine grandchildren, Matthew (Maria), Kelly (Bryan) Chapman, Laura, Gregory, Christopher, Maria, Kayla, Markus and Michael Gillespie; one great-grandchild, Ella Chapman; sister, Marie (Michael) Ludwig of Effingham.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; three brothers, John, Leo and Adolph; two sisters, Edna Worman and infant sister, Agnes.
