Eileen P. Schutte, 87, of Sigel, Illinois passed away at 6:35 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012 in the Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center of Effingham.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 15 in the St. Michael, The Archangel Church of Sigel with the Rev. Fr. Robert DeGrand of Sigel and Sr. Pat Thies of Effingham officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 14 with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Swegenl-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga. Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery of Sigel. Eileen was born March 17, 1925 in Sigel, the daughter of Harry P. and Eva L. (Bigler) Schutte. She was a member of the St. Michael, The Archangel Church of Sigel. She graduated from Eastern Illinois University and started teaching in Byron and continued teaching at the junior college in the Chicago area, where she also earned her Doctorate Degree. Eileen also was a member of Retired Teachers Association and the Ilinois Mycological Association of Chicago. She loved the outdoors.

Survivors include brother, John (wife Dana) Schutte of rural Sigel; sisters, Doloris Steinwandt Wagner of Chicago and Mary Ann Barkey of Clairmont, Calif.; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Madonna Goodart; niece, Dee Dee Schutte and nephew, Brett Schutte.
