Lawrence David Steele, 70 of Toledo died on Tuesday April 2, 2012 at his residence.
He was born on December 23, 1941 in Etna, IL the son of Lawrence M. & Ruby V. (Pruet) Steele. He married Evelyn M. Decker on February 2, 1964 at the Woodbury Methodist Church in Woodbury, IL. In addition to his wife of forty eight years, he is survived by his son Tom Steele at home, son Ed wife Shelly Steele of Etna and daughter Nancy Lawhorn Fiancée Rex Chance of Littleton, IL with grandchildren Shayla, Tyler & Britlynn Lawhorn. He is also survived by sisters Patricia husband Judson DeVore of Shelbyville, Donna husband Willard DeLong of Mattoon and brother Richard wife Diane Steele of Fort Wayne, IN; and mother-in-law Rachael Decker of Toledo.
David raised grain and livestock all of his life and was very proud of farming for 51 years. He worked for Cumberland School District. He loved antique tractor shows, music, attending auctions, researching family history and talking with people.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Thursday April 5, 2012 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 on Thursday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Drummond Cemetery rural Neoga, IL.
