Donald D. Siddens, 74, of Mason, died at 9:50 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Effingham.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. A private family funeral
service will be held on Wednesday with Rev. Clayton Vail officiating. Burial will follow at St. Clare Cemetery with Rev. Joseph Simburger officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be made by clicking here.

Donald was born on September 16, 1937 in rural Mason to Donald, Sr. and Hilda Wolff Siddens. He married Patricia Thoele on January 16, 1960 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Teutopolis. He was a retired lifelong dairy farmer. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a past member of Effingham County D.H.I.A. and the Schuetzenfest Board.

He is survived by his wife, Pat of Mason, his mother, Hilda Siddens of Altamont, his children, Tony (Karen) Siddens of Mason, Randy (Julie) Siddens of Fort Collins, CO, Becky (Larry) Doty of Beecher City, Cindy (Brian) Engel of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Lori (Ed) Niemerg of Bishop Creek, Holly (Brian) Dejong of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Nick (Kristianna) Siddens of Astoria, South Dakota, his brother, Rich (Pam) Siddens of Altamont, his sisters, Shirley Siddens of Altamont and Wanda (Bob) Cummins of Greenville, South Carolina, 22 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Don enjoyed driving his gator and 4-wheeler and checking the crops accompanied by his dog.
