William E. Green, Jr. age 81 of Ste. Marie, IL passed away at 10:35 PM on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, IL. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM - Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, IL with Rick Britton officiating. Burial will be in the New St. Peter Cemetery in Newton, IL with full military rites by the Jasper Post #20 American Legion. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.

William was born on December 10, 1932 in Glasgow, KY the son of William E. Green, Sr. and Emma (Eudy) Green. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Arlene (Seggerson) Bayer on March 17, 1988 and she survives. William spent his life working in the oilfields. He worked for many years as manager at Parrish Oil. He stayed in the fields after retirement drilling water wells with Green Water Well Service. He was a member of the Petroleum Club. William enjoyed gardening, tinkering around as a self taught mechanic. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren attending baseball and softball games, giving 4-wheeler or tractor rides around the yard. His greatest joy was spending time with Max around the house.

Marie, IL...Children- William Reid Green (Amanda Hawkins) of Glasgow, KY; Jay (Kathy) Green of Newton, IL; Marianne (Allan) Henry of Claremont, IL and Kim Green of Effingham, IL...Step-Children- Kris (Greg) Branch of Iuka, IL; Deb (Bruce) Decker of Casey, IL; Amy Gilbert of Casey, IL and Susie (Jim) Yates of Charleston, IL...Grandchildren- Gary, Nick, Jessica (fiancé Garrett), Taylor, McKayla, Lucas, Ali, Rhiannon, Lindy, Keygen, Kyleigh, Jory, Hannah, Jay, Hollee, Mitch and Luc (Sheena)...Great-Grandchildren Michah, Katie, Caban, Carson, Max, Mason and Lucee...Brother- Carroll (Susan Meadows) Green of Smith Grove, KY.

William was preceded in death by his parents, sister Anna Ruth Runyon and brother Stanley Green.
