Freddy William Goeckner, 83, of Altamont, died at 12:05 a. m. Monday, May 26, 2014 at his home with his wife and their children by his side.
A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a. m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at St. Clare Catholic Church, Altamont with Rev. Joseph Simburger and Rev. Jeff Goeckner officiating. Burial will follow at St. Clare Cemetery with military rites by Gieseking-Schwertdfeger V. F. W. Post #7676, Altamont. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at St. Clare Catholic Church, Altamont with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 4:00 p. m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 8:00 p. m. Memorials may be made to the St. Clare Cemetery Fund or the donors' choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Freddy was born on Thursday, August 7, 1930 in Gary, IN to Ferd and Alice (Dust) Goeckner. He married Madonna Koester on October 8, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Effingham. He was a U. S. Army Veteran having served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, Altamont and Knights of Columbus Council #665, Effingham. He was a retired farmer and owner of Goeckner Equipment, Altamont.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Madonna of Altamont; his sons, Kenneth (Cheryl) of Altamont, Dennis (Kristie) of Altamont, Curt (Theresa) of Dieterich, and Dean (Sharon) of Altamont; his daughters, Jeanne (Lloyd) Dasenbrock of Sigel, Margie (Dave) Meyer of Teutopolis, Judy (Steve) McClellan of Sigel, Rosa (Randy) Milleville of Altamont, Karen (Jim) Littleford of Charleston, Vicki (Michael) Conner of Altamont, Peggy (Scott) Bueker of Sigel, and Joyce (Chris) Guse of Mason; brother, Harold (Jane) Goeckner of Teutopolis; sisters, Alva Heuerman of Teutopolis, Marilyn (Larry) Zerrusen of Teutopolis; brother-in-law, Michael Hewing of Teutopolis; 50 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene Goeckner; sister, Anna Mae Hewing; brother-in-law, Oliver Heuerman; grandson, Benjamin Michael Conner and great granddaughter, Laney Jo Niebrugge.
