Louise Hix Jackson Hamenade of Altamont

Louise Hix Jackson Hamende went to meet the lord on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 7:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.

Louise was born in Irwin, Illinois to Bascom and Leona Jackson. Louise married Russell O. Hamende on February 14th 1953. Their upcoming anniversary would have been their 60th. Louise was a homemaker and she and Russell spent many years traveling to Florida after Russell’s retirement and enjoyed volunteering at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont VFW and Catholic Charities. Louise was a member of the Altamont VFW Auxiliary, Effingham American Legion Auxiliary and St. Mary Alter Society. Louise was known for what she would give to people. One of her proudest accomplishments was while working at Catholic Charities and through donations cleaned and delivered over 7000 stuffed animals to schools, churches, nursing homes and hospitals for children and adults in many areas of the state.

Visitation will be Tuesday July 31st from 6-8 at C & A Pagel Funeral Home at 100 N. Olive Street, St. Elmo, IL with services at 11:00 on Wednesday August 1stwith visitation one hour prior at the Funeral Home and burial at St. Bonaventure Cemetery rural St. Elmo.

Louise is survived by: husband, Russell Hamende of Altamont, daughter, Wanda Pasley (Donald) of Shelbyville, Grandson, Michael Pasley (Christina) of Beecher City, Granddaughter, Laura Moreland (Garrick) of Beecher City, Great Grandsons - Bryce Pasley, Devon Moreland, Jarrett Pasley and Hunter Moreland. Great Granddaughter – Emily Bone.  Brothers:  Charles Jackson (Gwen), Byron Center, Michigan; Donald Jackson (Sherry), Toluca, Illinois; Jim Jackson (Marguerite), Newport Beach, California; Sisters: Ruth Lefeave, El Paso, Texas; Shirley Wooldridge, Bourbonnais, Illinois; Lillian Hansen (Gerhard), St. Anne, Illinois; Thelma Alcorn (Melvin) of Watseka, Illinois; Phyllis Knecht (Austin), Nashville, Tennessee. Louise has 49 surviving nieces and nephews and many more great-nieces and great-nephews.

Louise Hamende was proceeded in death by her parents, daughters, Carolyn Hamende and Christina Lynn Hamende; brother Bascom Jackson Jr., Sisters; Lucille Richmond, Ethel Venema and Gladys Zbinden and 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Lutheran Care Activities Fund or the donor’s choice.
