Verlene (Blair) Borton, 97, of Edgewood, IL. passed away at 5:55 p. m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at Effingham Rehabilitation Center in Effingham, IL.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a. m. Thursday, April 17, 2014 with a viewing one hour prior to service at the Full Gospel Church in Edgewood, IL. Judy Poe will be officiating. Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. on Wednesday, April, 16, 2014 at Pagel Funeral Home in Edgewood, IL. Memorials may be made to Full Gospel Church in Edgewood, IL.
Verlene was born on July 6, 1916 in Clay County, IL. the daughter of Edward and Ethel (Cornwell) Fender. She married Otto Blair in 1935 who preceded her in death in 1977. She then married Lyle Borton in 1989 who also preceded her in death in 1991. She was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Edgewood. Verlene loved making pies and going to the Edgewood Opry House every Friday night. She loved being with family and friends and will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her son, Robert Blair (wife Sandy) of Edgewood, IL.; daughter-in-law, Glenda Blair of Edgewood, IL.; step-daughters, Nancy Lander of Florida and Kitty Widdows of Peoria, IL.; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Leslie Blair; daughter, Esther Ramsey; 8 brothers; 2 sisters; one grandson, Doug Hall; and two great-grandchildren, Brittany Blair and Reece Grupe.
