Sergeant Timothy Wayne Owens, 37, of Rolla, Missouri, formerly of Effingham, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Ft. Hood, Texas.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 12 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church in Rolla, Missouri.  Interment with full military honors will be in the Lake Springs Cemetery under the direction of Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home in Dixon, Missouri.
Sergeant Timothy W. Owens was born September 21, 1976 in Effingham, Illinois.  He enlisted in the United States Army on June 15, 2004.  Sergeant Owens attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri as a Motor Transport Operator (88M).
Sergeant Owens' previous assignments included: Palletized Load System (PLS) Driver, Chauffeur, Heavy Equipment Transport (HET) Vehicle Operator, Brigade S3 Operations Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) at Fort Stewart, Georgia and a Driver in Arifjan, Kuwait.  Sergeant Owens was assigned as a Heavy Vehicle Driver and Squad Leader with the 154th Composite Truck Company (CTC), Fort Hood, Texas.
He deployed to Iraq with the 396th Transportation Company, Fort Stewart, Georgia.
His military education includes the Advanced Leaders Course, Warrior Leaders Course, Technical Transportation of Hazardous Material Course, Combat Lifesavers Course, and Combatives Level 1.
Sergeant Owens was working on his Associate's Degree.
His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (4 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Good Conduct Medal (2), National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal-Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (2), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and four Certificates of Achievement.  He also earned the Combat Action Badge and Driver Badge.
Sergeant Owens was married to Billy Lynda Kaye Owens. He has three children, Loredana Veronica Owens (17 years old), Elizabeth Ann Rowe (12 years old) and Nathaniel Lane Rowe (14 years old).  Also surviving is his mother, Mary Muntean of Effingham.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.
