Carolyn Sue (McClain) Nelson, 74 of Toledo, passed away on Sunday March 30th. 

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p. m. on Wednesday April 2nd at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a. m. on Thursday, April 3rd, at the funeral chapel with services conducted by Danny Harper and Steve Jennings. Burial will follow at Toledo Cemetery.

Carolyn was born on February 24, 1940 in Toledo the daughter of the late Henry and Stella (Oakley) McClain. She married Gary Nelson on March 1, 1958. She is survived by her loving husband Gary; daughter Kathy Pattenaude of Toledo; son Don (Janet) Nelson of Toledo; grandchildren Jimmy Pattenaude, Ryan (Melanie) Pattenaude, Scott Pattenaude and his fiancé Shannon, Kimberly (Justin) Harper and Michael (Alyssa) Nelson; three great-grandchildren Elijah, Luke and Adelyn Harper; brother John McClain of Toledo; sisters Reba Shaw of Terre Haute, IN, Mary Sparks of Effingham, Dona Light of Mattoon, Lela Kroenlein of Effingham and Marilyn Ray of Toledo. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Josephine Boswell and brothers Howard and Orville McClain. 

Carolyn was a 1958 graduate of Cumberland High School. She was employed as the Toledo Village Clerk for 30 plus years. Carolyn served her community as an EMT with the Toledo Ambulance service for many years.
