Kayla D. Houston, 22, of Effingham, Illinois, formerly of Vandalia, IL, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Effingham, IL.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL, with Rev. Louis Frick officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, IL.
Memorials may be made to Autism Speaks and/or Second Chance Animal Rescue. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born September 03, 1991, in Breese, IL, the daughter of Bill F. & Amy B. (Helm) Houston. She was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, IL, & Loved the outdoors, hunting & kayaking. She was a track & basketball standout at VCHS; 2 time back to back state champion in the 1600 meter relay; & holds school records in 4x100, 400, 800 & 1600, relay teams.
She is survived by her parents & brother, Cameron Houston, all of Vandalia, maternal grandparents Barb Behrends & Jim, Brownstown, & Rick Helm & Saundra of Vandalia, paternal grandmother Faye Moreland, Vandalia and her maternal great grandfather, Russell Hewitt of Vandalia.
She was preceded in death by her Paternal Grandfather & Maternal Great Grandmother.
