Lincoln and His Times Election

The Effingham County Cultural Center and Museum Association (ECCCMA) and Lake Land College are once again partnering to offer the 2nd Annual Celebration of Lincoln and His Times. The program topic this year will be "The Election of 1860". The presentation will take place on the second floor of the Effingham County Courthouse Museum on Thursday, April 14 at 7 p. m. The event is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6 p. m. to allow attendees the chance to look at the various displays, especially the Lincoln displays.

Musicians from the Illinois Old Time Fiddlers Association will perform at 6:30 p. m. "The partnership between Lake Land College and the ECCCMA works well for us as we are able to link our resources and passion for history to offer this event", offered Delaine Donaldson, local historian and president of the ECCCMA. Matt Greider, Lake Land College history instructor and one of the presenters added, "The history of Abraham Lincoln is a topic that the public never tires of learning about. Lincoln was a resident of Illinois, so many people in this area have a connection to him or his Last year's event, also held in April, was a huge success, with standing room only in the 1st floor court room.

The program focused on the 150th anniversary of the death of Lincoln, with several local residents giving short presentations on various topics.
