“Settings for St. Anthony’s,” will be held Thursday, November 21 from Noon to 8 p.m. New this year, the event will be held at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham. “Settings” showcases tables decorated with seasonal themes, and wreaths adorned with festive holiday decorations. Funds from “Settings for St. Anthony’s” benefit the hospital’s Mother/Baby Home Care Program and new Hospice Program. “Settings for St. Anthony’s” is sponsored by the Friends of St. Anthony’s and is brought to you by Wright’s Furniture and Thelma Convention Center.

This will be the tenth year for “Settings for St. Anthony’s.” The event offers the community an opportunity to enjoy festive and unique table displays. An admission fee of $5 is requested at the door. There will be cash and carry items, wine tasting, and entertainment, as well as raffle and auction items.

Also returning this year is “A Night Out,” to be held Friday, November 22 from 6 to 11 p.m. at Keller Convention Center. The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, a three-course meal, entertainment, raffle items, and auction items. Tickets are $60 per person or a table of eight for $400, with proceeds benefiting the St. Anthony’s Mother/Baby Home Care Program and Hospice at St. Anthony’s. For tickets, contact Misty Campos, Physician Liaison, at (217) 347-1590 or misty.campos@hshs.org by November 15.

“Settings for St. Anthony’s” and “A Night Out” offer some creative ways of decorating, while helping St. Anthony’s provide support and compassion to area residents within the comforts of home. The Mother/Baby Home Care Program is a complimentary extension of a mother’s hospital stay to help ease any concerns she may have once she has left the hospital. The program is offered free of charge to all mothers and babies who come to St. Anthony’s. A registered nurse visits with the mother and her baby in their home shortly after they return home from the hospital. Besides examining both the mother and baby, the nurse also answers questions that the new mother may have about caring for the baby.

Hospice at St. Anthony’s is a new program which reaches back to the foundation of the hospital’s Mission and cares for patients where they are most comfortable – in their homes. Hospice at St. Anthony’s now allows St. Anthony’s to continue to care for the patient and their family members, building memories and preserving dignity in the comfort and security of their own homes as they face their most vulnerable time: the end of life. Contributions will help fund the program’s start-up costs which include free care for a limited number of patients, a new car to be used specifically for Hospice visits, and a lasting memory program for families of Hospice patients.
