Eastern Illinois University's Doudna Fine Arts Center is readying for its first concert in front of the Mellin Steps. The featured performer is jazz vocalist Cyrille Aimee and the concert will take place at 4 p.m., Sunday, June 9. In addition to the outdoor show, a BBQ dinner will be served immediately following. Those arriving early to the concert will get a preview of the 2013-2014 season. Tickets for the concert and dinner are only $15 each.

French-born Cyrille Aimee sings in the gypsy-jazz tradition and has developed a loyal following for her natural abilities. Doudna staff encourages those attending the concert to bring something soft to seat on. There is an area in front of the stage to accommodate those who bring lawn chairs. In the event of inclement weather the concert and dinner will be relocated indoors. The Mellin Steps are located on the west side of the Doudna Fine Arts Center adjacent to the Booth Library Quad. In addition to Cyrille Aimee’s performance, the Doudna welcomes all-round funny-man Andy Gross to campus on Thursday, July 18. As a comedian, magician and ventriloquist, Andy Gross will surely appeal to the kid in everyone.

Tickets for the outdoor Cyrille Aimee concert are $15 and can be purchased online at or at the Doudna Fine Arts Center Box Office. The Box Office will also be open the day of the concert beginning at 2 p.m. For more information, or to arrange accommodations for those needing special assistance, contact Doudna Fine Art Patron Services at 217-581-3110 or
