The Historic National Road Yard Sale Festival is from Wednesday, May 31 - Sunday, June 4.  In addition to the events already listed on Community Calendar in Effingham and Altamont, the following events are taking place:

Altamont is having city-wide garage sales from Wednesday, May 31 - Sunday, June 4, including sales at the Effingham County Fairgrounds, at Schmidt Park, and along Rt. 40 (The Historic National Road).

The City of St. Elmo will be having a community sale from Wednesday, May 31 - Saturday, June 3 in support of the Summer Lunch Program.  Donated items will be sold at the Community Center, The Centennial Building, at the park from 10 am - 3 pm each day.  The Centennial Building is located off 3rd and Elm Streets, just 3 blocks north of The Historic National Road (Rt. 40).  Household items, books and puzzles (no clothing) will be sold.  All proceeds from this sale will go to support the Free Summer Lunch Program for ALL kids in St. Elmo.  There are no requirements for the Summer Lunch Program, other than being a kid who shows up for a meal.  Meals are given out at the Centennial Building on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays from Noon - 1:00.  Kids can get an extra meal on Monday and Wednesday for Tuesday and Thursday.  Support this very worthwhile endeavor by donating or buying.  For more information, call Fred Wagner at 618-461-1032.

Brownstown has several sales planned in town.  Sales will be set up in the parking lot of the Brownstown Community Center on the west end of town.

On Sunday, June 4th from 2-4 pm, tours will be given through the Dr. Charles M. Wright House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.  If you are coming through town any other day, call Linda Schmidt at 618-483-6397 to arrange a tour.  More info is on their website:  http://www.wrightmansion.org
