Author Speaks at Lincoln Museum

Author Bruce Levin, history professor at the Unviersity of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will discuss his book "The Fall of the House of Dixie" The Civil War and the Social Revolution that Transformed the South" and sign copies Wednesday, January 9 at the Union Theater in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, 212 N. Sixth  Street in Springfield. The book uses diaries, letters, govenrment documents and more to paint a picture of Southern culture just before the Civil War and then track that culture's collapse as the war raged on and slaves won their freedom. He will be signing books at 6:30 p.m. and speaking at 7 p.m.
