A Medical Equipment Drive will be held Saturday, October 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital. A drop off point will be located in St. Anthony's northeast parking lot A, at the corner of Maple Street and Kentucky Avenue in  Effingham. Sponsored by St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, the Medical Equipment Drive aims to provide gently used medical equipment and supplies and hygiene kit supplies to people in Haiti, Jamaica and over 70 other countries. Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach will distribute the items collected.

The public is encouraged to contribute unused or gently used medical equipment, such as walkers, canes, crutches, wheelchairs, soft braces, orthopedic braces, slings, dressing, gauze and tape. Items must be clean and in great condition. Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach is unable to accept broken or dirty equipment, commodes, medications or expired items. For hygiene kits, supplies (must be new) needed are hand towels, washcloths, bath bar soap, combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, adhesive bandages, fingernail clippers and nail files.
