Free Brain Health Screenings at Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library

The Effingham Public Library is pleased to partner with My Memory Worx to provide free individual brain health screenings on Thursday, May 16. Adults Ages 55 and older or anyone concerned about memory loss should be screened.

These confidential and professional screenings are also appropriate for anyone who does NOT have a concern right now, but who wants to see how their memory is now and for future comparisons. Questions to consider:

Am I becoming more forgetful?

Do I have trouble concentrating?

Do I have difficulty performing familiar tasks?

Do I have trouble recalling names or words in conversation?

Has my family noticed changes in my mood, behavior personality, or desire to do things?

A screening consists of a series of questions and/or tasks designed to test memory, language skills, thinking ability, and other intellectual functions.

Everyone can benefit from a baseline score allowing them to compare potential changes that may occur in future screenings.

According to the American Academy of Neurology, getting a memory screening is important because a screening may be able to detect impairment up to 18 years prior to clinical diagnosis.

The screenings take an average of 25 minutes and will be held in the library’s Bauer Meeting Room. Call the library Monday through Friday at 217-342-2464 x. 1 to make an appointment.
