It Just Takes One at EIU Doudna Fine Art

Experience the journey of a young singer striving to ignite her career while balancing her social life when Kate Tombaugh brings her one-woman musical "It Just Takes One" to Eastern Illinois University March 21. The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Doudna Fine Arts Center's Black Box Theatre. Tickets are available online or by calling the Doudna Box Office at 581-3110.

Kate Tombaugh is an exceptional, highly praised Mezzo-soprano opera performer who has enjoyed singing since a young age. While singing has been part of her life since she could remember, but singing classical music was a new step when she started singing professionally. A farm girl, originally from Streator, Illinois, Tombaugh holds a master’s degree in voice from University of Cincinnati’s College- Conservatory of Music (CCM). Her opera career started when she placed third in the Chicago Regional MONC Auditions, hosted by NYC’s Metropolitan Opera. 

Kate Tombaugh performs with opera companies and symphonies throughout the United States. Additionally, she has a passion for outreach, education, and mentorship within the arts. She is the founder and Executive Director of the nonprofit arts organization, Poco a Poco. Kate enjoys presenting master classes at high schools and colleges’ performing arts programs. 

"It Just Takes One" featuring Kate Tombaugh is presented is presented as part of EIU's celebration of Women's History Month.

Tickets for Kate Tombaugh’s It Just Takes One are $10 for general admission and seniors (62+), and $5 for students.  Tickets can be purchased online atwww.eiu.edu/doudna or at the Doudna Fine Arts Center Box Office. Box Office hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and one hour prior to the scheduled performance.

The Doudna Fine Arts Center is located at 1860 South 7th Street in Charleston on the campus of Eastern Illinois University. Convenient free parking is located near the fine arts center.
