The Effingham Public Library will host flutist Jennifer Wilhelms for a music performance and lecture, featuring music with ties to Illinois.

Effingham native Jennifer Wilhelms will present her program, “Echo on the Breeze,” at 6 p.m. Monday, March 4, at Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library.

Wilhelms crafted this program as a tribute to her home state and to educate audiences about the role Illinois has played in the lives of several prominent musical figures.

“We are excited to have Jennifer present her music and message at the library,” said Programming Outreach Manager Catherine Bailey. “It is always great to see those with local ties return to the community to share their talents.”

Wilhelms will perform a variety of repertoire, including American songs, jazz and classical compositions, and recently written music. In addition, she will discuss the ways in which her musical selections connect to the state, be it through the life of a composer and performer or through the genesis of the work itself.

Wilhelms, who holds a Ph.D. in music from New York University, currently lives in Chicago, where she is professionally active as a flutist, teacher and writer.

Registration is required for this event. For further information, the library can be contacted at 217-342-2464 x1, email info@effinghamlibrary.org, or go online at www.effinghamlibrary.org
