Developing a social media strategy can feel like a daunting task for nonprofit leaders and volunteers. Without having the same budget and graphic designers of larger nonprofit organizations or corporations, it can be difficult to stand out. Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation and Forefront are partnering to bring a two-part convening to Effingham that will help nonprofit staff learn the best practices for social media and develop a clear strategy to promote their organization’s mission.

“If you’ve been wanting to launch social media for your organization and not sure where to begin, you’ll want to attend this event,” encourages instructors Jadrianne Smith and Andrea Applegate, of Dau Consulting. Together, Smith and Applegate have more than 16 years of experience in marketing. In Social Media 101, attendees will learn about the top four social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Instruction will be given on how to choose the right social media platforms, identify objectives, audience and voice, and will develop a social media calendar and strategy.

Social Media 101 is Tuesday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Roy Schmidt Honda (1705 W Fayette Avenue, Effingham). The cost of this event is $15 for Forefront members ($25 for non-members). To register, visit https://www.enrichingourcommunity.org/Events/social-media-101_5-15-2018.

Social Media 201 will dive deeper into social media by teaching more advanced techniques to help organizations tell stories, engage volunteers, and increase donations. Attendees will learn how to create engaging posts, becoming familiar with Facebook Insights, learn how to utilize social media advertising, and learn what helpful social media applications are available.

Social Media 201 is Wednesday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Dieterich Bank Corporate Center (300 Sur Woods Drive, Effingham). The cost of this event is $15 for Forefront members ($25 for non-members). To register, visit https://www.enrichingourcommunity.org/Events/social-media-201_6-20-2018).
