“Envisioning Effingham 2030” Conversation at Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library

Effingham Public Library is partnering with Effingham County Chamber of Commerce to provide a community conversation “Envisioning Effingham 2030” on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at 6 p.m. in the library’s Workman Room.

Joe Fatheree, Director of Strategic Projects for Effingham Unit 40 School and Top Ten Finalist for the Global Teacher Prize in 2016 explained the reasoning for the Envisioning conversation as “Effingham is one of the few communities in the nation to undertake the challenge of trying to envision what things need to look like for our culture to continue to thrive. This commitment to excellence will pay huge dividends for our children and grandchildren as the baton is passed to them.”

“Bringing the community together to envision our future ensures that Effingham County will continue to be a leader in east central Illinois – and beyond,” according to Chamber President and CEO Norma Lansing. “Bringing those ideas into clearer focus through the artistic interpretation of Effingham in 2030 will solidify our chances for future success,” Lansing continued.

Everyone is welcome to join the conversation which will be led by Effingham High School history teacher, Ryan Ervin.

Mr. Ervin will ask the audience to consider: What will Effingham look like in 2030? What should Effingham look like in 2030? What are the pillars that make up a healthy community and what needs to happen to maintain and grow these pillars for Effingham?

Answers and concepts shared by the audience will be compiled by local artists to create images rendering how the group sees the Effingham of 2030.

Registration is required.
