The First Christian Church in Effingham is celebrating their 150th anniversary this year.

Plans include these upcoming events.  Each week worship in song will feature songs corresponding with different periods of our history.  These songs will progress from those songs that were popular in the mid to late 19th century through the 20th century and concluding with those songs that are popular in the first part of the 21st century.  Music director Jane Zerkel has selected songs appropriate for each time period.  On each of those Sundays, Delaine Donaldson will give a short history of the time period.

On Saturday evening, September 9th, beginning at 6 p.m. there will be an ice cream social with homemade ice cream prepared by Troy Davis.  Carroll Lewis will give a short devotional,  Pee Wee Denton will play for a sing-along of old fashioned hymns such as "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder", "Bringing in the Sheaves", etc.  and the time capsule will be opened.

On Sunday, September 10th, Delaine Donaldson will have the morning worship service begin at 10:15 a.m.  He will be doing a first person re-enactment of W. T. Gordon, a leader in establishing several churches throughout Effingham County. Come early for coffee and goodies beginning at 9:45.  Former members, people who grew up in the church and friends are invited to join the congregation for any of these events.  If you have questions call the church weekday mornings or email fcceffingham@gmail.com
