One of the nation’s top dealers in Lincoln material visits the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum on May 3 to share stories about the treasures he has handled and discuss the relationship between museums, collectors and dealers.

Daniel Weinberg, owner and operator of the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop in Chicago, has been buying and selling Lincoln and Civil War artifacts for nearly 50 years. He is the author of “Lincoln’s Assassins: Their Trial and Execution” and has done research for numerous institutions, including the University of Virginia and the Chicago Historical Society.

Starting at 6 p.m. in the museum’s Union Theater, Weinberg will show images of the biggest finds of his career and share the stories behind them. He may reveal the top Lincoln artifact he would save from a fire or disclose the artifact he dreams of locating someday. He will answer audience questions.

The event is free. Visit www.PresidentLincoln.Illinois.gov and click on “special event reservations.”
