A concert featuring the music of American composers will be presented in the Dvorak Concert Hall on Tuesday, February 7. The All-American concert will be presented by special guests the Indiana State University Regali Chamber Winds and Springs, conducted by Dr. Roby George. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. concert are $5 for general admission seats.

Some of the feature pieces include “Serenade, Opus 40” by Arthur Bird, “Serenade for Winds” by Alec Wilder, and the centerpiece of the concert will be the original 13-instrument version of Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring.” In 1945 “Appalachian Spring” received the Pulitzer Prize for music as well as the award of the Music Critics Circle of New York for the outstanding theatrical work of the season. “Appalachian Spring” has come to symbolize the quintessential sound of ‘American music.’

The Regali Chamber Winds and Springs is a professional faculty-student based ensemble in residence in the School of Music at Indiana State University located in Terre Haute, IN. Funded in 2012 by its present conductor and artistic director Roby G. George, the mission of the ensemble is to present and expand on the vast history of wind chamber and mixed chamber ensemble repertoire, while providing classical audiences with a new music concert experience.
