Do you experience loss of balance, unsteadiness, dizziness or frequent falls?  HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital’s Physical Rehabilitation department is holding a Balance Clinic on September 12.   A physical therapist will provide a simple 15-20 minute balance screening and fall risk assessment free of charge.

Following the simple screening, the therapist will share results with each patient and provide recommendations based on screening results.  The therapist will encourage patients to schedule an appointment with their physician to discuss results and any recommendations for balance or vestibular evaluation and therapy.  Patients will also receive information on fall prevention and home safety.

A physician’s order is not required for the screening and patients do not have to register with the hospital.  However, screenings are being conducted by appointment only.  Appointment times are available between 9 a.m. – Noon.  Call(217) 347-1243to schedule an appointment.

For more information on HSHS St. Anthony’s Physical Rehabilitation Balance Clinic, contact Candy Jansen, Physical Rehabilitation manager, at(217) 347-1277or visit HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital’s Web site atwww.stanthonyshospital.org.  HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital is part of the Southern Illinois Division of Hospital Sisters Health System, which also includes HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville, and HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.
