Olney author Ron Scherer will be at Helen Matthes Library Thursday, October 18 at 6:30 p.m. to present The Soldier From Illinois: One Man's Courage and Compassion. It's the story of Earl Scherer frim his depression-era childhood, his landing on Omaha Beach, trek through Europe and his life in Olney after the war. Earl Scherer will be a special guest at this event. Copies of the book will be available for purchase for $20. No library card is needed to attend events at Helen Matthes Library.
