The 40th Annual Cowden Pioneer Days will be held Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26 at Cowden Village Park. There will be a carnival each day. Visit the Pioneer Village which is open featuring old time displays and crafts in the setting of authentic log cabins. Pioneer Days prizes will be given away including $3,000 first place prize, child's Gator, second place prize and $150 cash third and fourth place prizes. Flea market, wood carver, arts and crafts, Indian village. Today's events include: 8 a.m. -- Jim Edmundson Memorial 5K Walk & Run/one mile fun run. Phone 783-2444 11 a.m.-2 p.m. -- Dinner served, chicken and noodles Noon-2 p.m. -- Tennessee Border Line Band 1 p.m. -- Childrens' games, North Pavilion, cabin area 1-3 p.m. -- Pioneer Talent contest, ages 7-14 and 15-18.
