Cellular 911 service is back to normal in Effingham County, as well as in three other counties where similar problems were experienced over the weekend.

Effingham County 911 System Administrator Jodi Moomaw Monday said Verizon has three trunk lines that handle cellular calls for 911.  Verizon said two of those lines were down.  That meant that calls that got picked up by the functioning trunk line got through, but the calls picked up by the other two lines didn't.

Moomaw said Verizon crews worked through the night to repair the non-functioning trunk lines and she spent several hours making calls to let officials where and how to make repairs and when service was restored.

Moomaw said the interruption also caused problems for 911 systems in Montgomery, Christian and Coles counties.
