St. Elmo resident Heaven Davis made her first appearance with counsel Wednesday in Fayette County Circuit Court on a count of endangering the life or health of a child.

The charge was filed following the death of Davis' one-year-old daughter, Addison Scott of St. Elmo.

The Court found that Davis qualified for representation by Conflicts Public Defender Jeff DeLong.  She is due to be in court at 11am on February 21 for a preliminary hearing.

Davis remains in custody in Fayette County Jail on $100,000 bond.

Davis faces a Class 3 felony charge, which is punishable by three to 10 years in prison.  The range of sentence for a Class 3 felony is typically three to seven years, but the high end of the sentence is greater for the specific charge Davis faces.
