Two people were injured in a crash Thursday evening near Altamont.

State police say a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Destiny Garrison of Greenville struck a parked tow truck after swerving to avoid other contact.  The tow truck and two other vehicles were parked along the shoulder of I-70 eastbound helping recover vehicles and debris from a crash Thursday morning that resulted in a lengthy traffic tie-up.  Ironically, the collision involving Garrison and the tow truck caused another backup.

Garrison and her passenger, 26-year-old Stephen Shouse of Greenville, were injured and were taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.  A baby in the back seat was securely fastened and was not injured.

Garrison was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash and no valid insurance.
