North Clay school board members Thursday heard from Jeff Hembree regarding a school district prayer meeting.
Hembree sought Board approval for a day of prayer on the school and staff. The event would be on Sunday, August 5. The Board approved the request 5-0.
The tentative plan is for Hembree to organize a day of prayer for North Clay staff, classrooms, buses, school grounds and more where the community can be involved in prayer for the school district. Hembree will be making more details on the event available in the near future.
Board members raised lunch prices by 10 cents. It's something several districts are doing due to new Federal guidelines requiring districts to make sure Federal funds aren't being used to supplement lunch costs. The student full price lunch will cost $1.95, and the reduced price is 40 cents. The adult lunch price will be $2.25. The district will again be offering pre-paid lunch discounts during registration, and will offer 20% off if someone pays at registration for lunches for the entire school year.
In personnel moves, the North Clay board accepted the resignation due to early retirement of Rosemary Hawkins, accepted resignations from Lanie Barbee as paraprofessional and Alyssa Nelson as elementary teacher effective immeidiately, accepted the resignation of Stephanie Williams as Speech and Language Pathologist, accepted the resignation of Stephanie Harrison as Drama Club sponsor 4-1 with member Worthy voting "no", took no action on Angie Stanfield's request to resign as junior high girls head basketball coach, hired Nancy Lewis as driver education instructor, hired Joni Cooper as fulltime bus driver for the coming school year, and granted the administration authority to hire a Speech Language Pathologist, paraprofessionals and other staff as needed on a 3-2 vote with members Worthy and Cochran voting "no".
