The assistant police chief of the Flora Police Department was injured in a crash with a semi just before 6pm Monday.

The crash occurred when Assistant Chief Guye Durre of Flora made a U-turn after activating his emergency lights.  Durre was attempting to respond to an earlier crash when his squad car was struck by a semi driven by 43-year-old Floyd Evans of Tyler, Minnesota.

Both the 44-year-old Durre and Evans were injured and both were taken to Clay County Hospital in Flora for treatment.  Durre was later airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville for treatment of a broken collarbone.
