County Clerk Files for Re-Election; State Level Filings

Effingham County Clerk Kerry Hirtzel has filed nominating petitions for another term in office.

Hirtzel, a Republican, is seeking a fourth term.  

At the state level, Republican incumbent Kyle McCarter of Lebanon is seeking re-election as 54th District State Senator, Republican incumbent John Cavaletto of Salem is seeking re-election as 107th District State Representative, and Republican incumbent David Reis of Willow Hill is seeking re-election as 109th District State Representative.

At the Congressional level, Republican incumbent John Shimkus of Collinsville is seeking re-election as 15th District Congressman and Democrat Eric Thorsland of Mahomet has also filed for the office.

At the judicial level, James Roberts of Hillsboro has filed for the Democrat nomination for Circuit Judge to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Kelly Long of Hillsboro.  Roberts is now an Associate Judge, but is seeking to serve as a Circuit Judge.

The filing period for the March 2014 primary election continues through Monday, December 2 at 5pm.
