NWS Lincoln Office Confirms 10 Tornadoes in Central Illinois

The National Weather Service office in Lincoln says it has now confirmed 10 tornadoes that touched down in central, eastern and southeastern Illinois Sunday.  They added three more to their list Thursday.

All three tornadoes were EF-1 in strength.  One touched down on the north edge of Pana and had a peak wind speed of 110MPH.  There was a second tornado that touched down near Tuscola and traveled for just over five miles before merging with an EF-3 tornado that touched down near Villa Grove.  The third tornado was on the ground for 3-1/2 miles in Jasper County.

The National Weather Service said a total of 24 tornadoes touched down in Illinois on Sunday.
