A natural gas line was cut at the intersection of Temple Avenue and 2nd Street in Effingham, causing an interruption of service and an evacuation of one residence.

A worker on scene said another utility cut the gas line.  Repairs were expected to be completed Thursday evening.

The initial call about the gas line cut came to city police just after 11am.  The intersection of Temple and Second was closed while crews went to work to repair the line and street crews will make the roadway driveable.

No one was injured.
