An Effingham man was injured when his motorcycle was struck by a SUV east of Teutopolis.

The crash happened at 3:47pm Thursday along US 40 at 2100th Street.  Effingham County sheriff's deputies say 69-year-old James Schaeffer of Effingham passed two westbound vehicles as they approached the intersection.  Meanwhile, the cycle ridden by 23-year-old Adam Bierman of Effingham began to turn south and was struck by the Schaeffer vehicle.

Bierman was injured and was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

Schaeffer was cited for improper passing at an intersection.
