A two-year-old girl is home and safe after wandering away Monday morning.

Authorities say the incident occurred north of Woodbury in Cumberland County.  The child was found unharmed with her puppies at the end of a search by emergency services and law enforcement personnel.

Cumberland County Sheriff Steve Ozier said Monday afternoon that his office was contacted just before noon by the child's family that they had been looking for her for 30 to 45 minutes.

Ozier's office contacted Montrose Fire Protection District firefighters who in turn summoned firefighters from Toledo, Greenup, Dieterich and Teutopolis to assist in the search.  Cumberland County sheriff's deputies and Illinois State Police were on hand, as well.

Ozier said the child was located less than a half-mile from the house around 1pm.  He said the girl was unharmed.  He declined to share the child's name.

Woodbury is located along US Route 40 between Montrose and Greenup.  The house from where the girl wandered away is north of Woodbury near Interstate 70.
