Two Injured in Tuesday Afternoon Crash

Two people were injured in the crash of a U-Haul vehicle just north of Effingham Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred at 4:35pm on I-57, one mile north of Effingham.  A vehicle driven by 39-year-old Ronald Caillouet of Carbondale ran off the road into the ditch and then struck some trees.

Caillouet was injured as was his passenger, 39-year-old Lakisha Brown of Carbondale.  Both were taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

Caillouet was cited for violating the median. 

The crash caused some traffic delays for several minutes.
