Alcohol Abuse Costs Illinois Billions

Excessive use of alcoholic beverages is costing the state of Illinois billions of dollars every year.

In the most recent study by the Centers for Disesase Control, alcohol abuse cost Illinois more than $9 billion.  The losses are weighed in terms of workplace productivity, health care expenses and other costs associated with excessive drinking.

Annually, more than 80,000 people die from alcohol-related conditions.
